The Galette des Rois, known as the ‘King’s Cake,’ is a beloved French pastry traditionally enjoyed around Epiphany, the Christian holiday on January 6th that celebrates the visit of the Three Wise Men to the infant Jesus.

This flaky puff pastry cake features a rich almond cream or frangipane filling made from almonds, butter, sugar, and eggs. Traditionally, a small token or figurine, known as a ‘fève,’ is hidden inside the cake before baking.

Whoever finds the “almond” as fève in their slice is crowned king or queen for the day and receives a paper crown included with the cake. Each Galette des Rois also comes with a special fève carefully selected from France, adding an authentic touch to this cherished tradition.
